Upgraded Handle And Components Add Comfort, Durability

To 2005 Exmark ® Metro ® 21 Commercial Walk-Behind

Charlotte, NC (November 5, 2004) - Exmark has made a number of improvements to its popular Metro 21 Commercial walk-behind for 2005, focused primarily at increasing ease-of-use and overall mower durability in demanding commercial cutting environments.

Exmark engineers reduced the diameter of the drive handle and flattened the surface of the top bail lever.   The new lever fits flush against the primary handle when engaged, creating a slimmer, flatter and more comfortable grasping surface.   Rubber discs have also been added to the handle mount to better isolate the handle from engine and deck vibration.   In addition, a redesigned lower drive engagement bail lever features a 50-percent reduction in engagement travel as well as a refined shape, adding to both operator comfort and ease-of use.   A standard three-position height adjustment system allows the handle height to be optimized for operators of varying stature.

The speed selector lever has been moved to the upper right-hand side of the handle, making it more accessible to the operator, allowing easier selection of the correct mower speed and contributing to extended drive belt and transmission life.   In addition, redesigned control cables minimize protrusion below the main handle for increased operator safety.

Exmark has upgraded key components in the deck height adjustment system of the Metro 21 Commercial to cast aluminum pieces, which offer smoother operation and enhance durability.

In addition, a new extended front bumper protects the height adjustment levers from contact-related damage, further increasing long-term mower durability.

Other features of the Exmark Metro 21 Commercial include:

  • 21-inch TriVantage ® deck - offers the ability to bag, mulch or side discharge with the addition of the optional side discharge chute.
  • Choice of 5.5-horsepower Honda, or 6-horsepower Kawasaki® engines.
  • Kawasaki-powered units feature a one-gallon remote fuel tank.
  • Heavy-duty gusseted steel wheels with sealed ball bearings
  • Three drive styles are available, including:
    • Hand-push
    • Self-propelled
    • Self-propelled with a blade brake clutch (BBC) - allows the operator to disengage the cutting blade without stopping the engine
