Exmark Unleashes The Powerful New Lazer Z ® XS

Charlotte, NC. (November 5, 2004) - Exmark has added a powerful new model to its acclaimed Lazer Z ® line of mid-mount zero-turn commercial mowers.   An early-release 2005 model, the new Lazer Z XS is the most powerful air-cooled mower the company has ever produced.   The first models began shipping to Exmark dealers in June 2004.

"Many landscape contractors want a larger, more powerful mower, but don't want the complexities and special service procedures required by a liquid-cooled powerplant," said John Cloutier, marketing communications manager for Exmark.   "The Lazer Z XS is ideal for these operators, since it offers a level of power that until now has not been available in air-cooled models."

In testing, Exmark found that the new VanguardT 31-horsepower "Big Block" V-twin engine perfectly suited the power, torque and durability criteria set for the Lazer Z XS.   This new 895cc powerhouse includes a number of features that make it easy for the landscape contractor to operate and maintain, including an Advanced Debris Management (ADM) system, which simplifies maintenance while contributing to cooler and cleaner engine operation.   The Vanguard 31-horsepower V-twin is a product of the partnership between Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power and Daihatsu, a member of the Toyota Group.

The Lazer Z XS uses heavy-duty frame and drive system components to effectively harness the increased power and torque capabilities of the new Vanguard engine.   The drivetrain features high-capacity, fan-cooled hydraulic pumps and large-displacement wheel motors to ensure long-term durability, and frame components are thicker and stronger than those found on the standard Lazer Z model.   When paired with Exmark's exclusive UltraCutT deck design, available in either 60-inch or 72-inch cutting widths, the Lazer Z XS is capable of cutting up to seven acres per hour.

Amenities such as a standard LS-Deluxe full-suspension seat, ergonomic, height-adjustable drive levers, and primary controls positioned close at hand on-top of the right-side fuel tank provide a comfortable operator environment, enhancing productivity and control.   A standard two-post, foldable Roll-Over Protection System (ROPS) increases operator safety in the event of a mower rollover, and the system is easily foldable without tools to facilitate easy trailering or storage.
